As reported by the "European Rubber Journal," India's Philips Carbon Black Company (PCBL) took a significant stride into the European market by establishing a subsidiary named "PCBL Europe SRL" in Belgium this April. The move aims to advance market research and facilitate trade activities in Europe. PCBL, a carbon black manufacturer based in Mumbai, will spearhead research, development, manufacturing, marketing, and trading endeavors focused on specialty carbon black and other chemical products within this newly formed subsidiary.

Previously, PCBL had set up an innovation center in the Ghislenghien region of Belgium, with the central focus of their R&D efforts being market-oriented, constantly exploring and innovating, and expanding and enhancing the value of their products.

In line with PCBL's report for the second fiscal quarter, ending on June 30, the company has achieved significant milestones. They successfully concluded the initial phase of the specialty carbon black production expansion project at their Mundra plant in Gujarat, India, which became operational in July. Presently, it boasts an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of special carbon black. Anticipations are high for an additional 20,000-ton capacity increment upon the completion of the project's second phase.

The financial report for the second quarter, released on July 12, revealed a minor 8% year-on-year dip in PCBL's sales, amounting to 12.9 billion Indian rupees (approximately 144 million euros). Nonetheless, profit before tax saw a slight uptick, reaching 1.6 billion Indian rupees (about 17.9 million euros).

With the establishment of a subsidiary in Belgium and an innovation center in the Ghislenghien region, PCBL has markedly fortified its foothold in the European market, laying down a robust foundation for the company's future endeavors and development.
