  Pigment carbon black

Pigment carbon black is used for coloring in inks, paints, coating products and other products. The blackness of pigment carbon black is actually the reflectivity of carbon black. Often expressed as data measured by reflectivity. The higher the blackness, the lower the reflectivity. Blackness can also reflect the original particle size of carbon black to a large extent. Generally, the higher the blackness of carbon black, the smaller the particle size. The volatile matter of carbon black indicates the number of oxygen-containing groups on the surface of carbon black, and reflects the surface physical properties, electrochemical properties and application performance of carbon black. The structure of carbon black, the characterization value of the degree of chain branching formed by the aggregates of carbon black particles, represents the level of voids inside the carbon black, usually expressed by the oil absorption value.

Therefore, the quality of carbon black dispersion will directly affect the blackness, hue and hiding ability of carbon black, and directly affect the use effect of pigment carbon black.

  1. Classification of carbon black for pigments

Internationally, carbon black is usually divided into three categories according to its coloring ability, namely high pigment carbon black, medium pigment carbon black and low pigment carbon black. This classification system is commonly represented by three English letters. The first two letters indicate coloring capabilities, the latter indicates production methods

For example: high pigment channel black: HCC (high color channel)

High color furnace black HCF(high color furnace)

Classification of color-like pigments is mainly based on particle size and blackness. High pigment tank black (10-14nm), medium pigment tank black (15-27 nm), medium pigment furnace black (17-27 nm), low pigment furnace black (28-70 nm)

  2. Classification of carbon black for rubber

The naming system takes into account factors such as the vulcanization speed and structure of carbon black rubber compounds, and consists of four systems. The first letter represents the English letter representing the vulcanization speed of the rubber compound. N stands for normal vulcanization speed, and S stands for slow vulcanization speed. The first letter of the next three letters represents the carbon black nitrogen surface area range. The second and third numbers reflect different degrees of structure.

(These are all national standards)

N220 is suitable for all kinds of rubber, and its wear resistance is 10%-20% higher than that of N330. It can give the rubber particles high tensile strength and tear resistance, and has a certain degree of conductivity. Mainly used for tread rubber of truck tires, passenger tires, and rubber products that require high strength and high wear resistance.

N550 is suitable for natural rubber and various synthetic rubbers. It is easy to disperse, can give the rubber high stiffness, fast extrusion speed, small mouth expansion, and smooth extrusion surface. Vulcanized rubber has good high-temperature performance and thermal conductivity, as well as better reinforcing properties, elasticity and recovery. Mainly used in rubber for tire cords, sidewalls, inner tubes and extruded and calendered products.

N660 is suitable for all kinds of rubber. Compared with semi-reinforced carbon black, it has a higher structure, finer particles, and is easily dispersed in the rubber. The tensile strength, tear resistance and elongation stress of the vulcanized rubber are better than those of semi-reinforced carbon black. High, small deformation, low heat generation, good elasticity and resistance to flexure. Mainly used in tire curtain tape, inner tubes, bicycles, hoses, tapes, cables, footwear, calendered products, model products, etc.

N774 is suitable for all kinds of rubber. This product is the carbon black variety with the largest particle size (product particle size is 80-170nm) and the lowest structure except thermal cracking carbon black. It is mostly used in the buffer layer and ply of the tire carcass. This product can be filled in large quantities in rubber compounds, hoses, extruded products, various industrial rubber products, as well as wires and cables. Its vulcanized rubber has high elongation, low heat generation, high elasticity and good aging resistance. This product can also be used instead of thermal carbon black.
