TIA and USTMA Launch Tire Recycling Foundation to Advance Sustainable Solutions

　　The Tire Industry Association (TIA) and the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) have jointly announced the establishment of the Tire Recycling Foundation, aimed at providing sustainable recycling market solutions for waste tires. This partnership was unveiled at the recent Off-Highway Tire (OTR) Conference 2024 held in Las Vegas.

　　USTMA's Waste Tire Project Director, John Sheerin, and TIA's CEO, Dick Gust, jointly outlined the background leading to the creation of the Tire Recycling Foundation. The foundation's primary mission is to advocate for sustainable and recycling market solutions for scrap tires through research, development of new technologies, and fostering collaboration across the entire tire value chain.

　　TIA USA revealed that the foundation's inception followed extensive industry consultations, including a three-day hearing organized by the Tire Industry Project (TIP) in 2021. The foundation's board of directors, comprising representatives from tire manufacturers, distributors, retailers, recyclers, and tire derivative product manufacturers, is scheduled to convene for its inaugural meeting in March of this year.

　　Mr. Gust of TIA emphasized that the foundation will play a pivotal role in navigating the evolving regulatory landscape and promoting sustainable development within the tire industry. He underscored the significance by stating, "As tire retailers, dealers, retread tire manufacturers, and tire recyclers, you are at the forefront of managing waste tires. The foundation's ultimate objective is to achieve 100% recycling of waste tires within a sustainable market."

　　Through strategic partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and targeted interventions, the U.S. Tire Industry Association aims to propel the transition towards a profitable and self-sustaining tire recycling ecosystem.
