According to Birla Carbon’s website, the company’s factories in Hickok, USA, and Yeosu, South Korea, have obtained the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS) without any non-conformities. This signals the company’s commitment to sustainability and the circular economy. Previously, the company's Italian factory obtained ISCC PLUS certification in May 2023, becoming the first factory to obtain this certification, reflecting the company's determination to provide advanced products.
"We are proud to announce that our Hickok, U.S., and Yeosu, South Korea, facilities have received ISCC PLUS certification, an important step in our sustainability journey," said John Loudermick, President and CEO of Birla Carbon. "Another milestone. These achievements demonstrate Birla Carbon's strong commitment to environmental responsibility. As our certification efforts continue to expand globally, we will continue to strengthen our commitment to sustainable and traceable practices."
The company is actively applying for ISCC PLUS certification for several other factories around the world. Currently, the certification process for two units in Brazil and three units in India, Spain, Egypt and Hungary is ongoing, with the remaining plants scheduled to be completed within fiscal year 2024. Birla Carbon is committed to sustainable practices and this certification reinforces its commitment to responsible operations. ISCC PLUS certification is a voluntary program applicable to industries in various bioeconomy and circular economy sectors. This certification system provides stakeholders with a reliable mark for identifying the qualifications of companies providing sustainable and circular raw materials.
